Who is Education Perfect Good For?
Not all homeschool curriculums are going to work for all families. Needs differ even from child to child within a home.
For that reason, I wanted to highlight who I think this program would be suited for and who it might not be the best choice for.
Because they have a free 30-day trial, you can ultimately make that decision for yourself, but these are some helpful points to consider.
Those Wanting to Supplement
You may already have a whole homeschool curriculum that works well for your family. However, it’s not uncommon to want to supplement some subjects.
This homeschool resource could work well for giving your child some extra practice in certain areas. It could also work well to foster a bit of independence (and give you a break).
Traveling School
If you are a traveling homeschool family then Education Perfect may suit your needs perfectly. If you can get internet access and a device to work on, your child can do the work.
This is super helpful if you have limited space for school supplies. It’s also good if you have an unconventional schedule as your child can just work on it any time that suits.
Working Parents
Not everyone who homeschools has a parent that can be home full time. Many families have to juggle working and homeschooling their children.
Due to its independent nature, Education Perfect may suit families in this situation. The student can work independently and you as the parent don’t have to do any lesson planning.
Older, Independent Learners
In my opinion, Education Perfect is geared more towards older, independent learners. If you’re looking for a program that gives your child a bit more autonomy over their learning, this is an option worth considering.
If You Want Simple and No Fluff
There aren’t a lot of extras with this curriculum. It’s open and go and follows a format similar to that of the university model I learned under when I attended college.
There are slides that demonstrate the principles being taught and then exercises for the child to complete in order to demonstrate their understanding.
If you want something simple and to the point, Education Perfect offers that.
Different Levels
One of the great things about this resource is that they offer all of the levels at the same time. This is really beneficial if you have a child that is at different levels across their subjects.
You can also then go back and have them review concepts where they may be lacking in knowledge.
Secular Homeschoolers
This is a good program for secular homeschoolers. It isn’t a religious or faith-based curriculum.
If You Want Common Core
This program aligns with common core standards. If that is something you want for your child, then Education Perfect is worth considering.
Some Great Features:
Accessibility
The program has good accessibility features. There was a clear speaker icon to click on when you wanted the words to be spoken. This is something I feel is very necessary for an online homeschool curriculum.
Explains When Answers are Wrong
When a child gives an incorrect answer, the program doesn’t just move them along. Instead, the concept is reviewed and your child will be given another opportunity to show their understanding.
Easy to Use Interface
I feel as though I’m fairly good at navigating online apps and programs, but there have been a few that have been tricky for me to figure out.
Education Perfect was not one of them. It has a very user-friendly interface with lots of help and video tutorials.
Games
I don’t know about your kids, but mine always love playing games. This learning resource has games to help reinforce the concepts that your child is being taught.
The Program is Not the Right Choice for:
I need to stipulate that saying a program isn’t right for someone doesn’t mean that the program is bad. You’re never going to find a curriculum or learning resource that is a perfect fit for every child. After all, children aren’t robots.
These are simply notes to be aware of as you’re evaluating the program for your own homeschool.
Advanced Learners
While Education Perfect offers some great courses, the advanced learner will likely fly through the learning material and not be challenged enough.
Christian Homeschoolers
If you are a Christian homeschooler looking for a faith-based curriculum, this is not going to be the right fit for your family.
Non-Traditional Schoolers
There is nothing inherently wrong with traditional schooling if it works for your family. However, if you’re not interested in using a traditional curriculum, you should probably pass on this program.
It’s Not Completely Independent
While this curriculum certainly fosters independent learning, you will still need to help on occasion. It is not completely independent.
Summing It Up
