Format of Learning

Something that I like about this science program is that it is self-paced. It makes it a really flexible option for many homeschooling families with all kinds of different schedules.

It also encourages your child to come up with their own learning schedule. They do offer suggestions on how to use the materials, but it is ultimately up to you and your child.

What a typical lesson looks like is a video where the lesson is taught and then the PDF chapter that the child needs to work through.

The pace at which they work through all of the materials is what is up to you to decide.

There is also testing at the end of each lesson so that your child can show their comprehension of the subject taught.

I had no idea of all the extras that came with this program and I was super impressed! I think you’ll find there are some great supplemental tools that will really boost your child’s learning experience.

While these extras aren’t essential to the program, I found them a great add-on that I wasn’t really expecting.

It’s so good to know that you can access media that is sound and wholesome. Plus, it’s another activity that you can participate in as a family.

Our Experience with this Homeschool Science Curriculum

None of my children are old enough to use this particular curriculum. They do plan to have courses for the lower grades (1-3) but they’re not available right now. However, I did a fairly thorough overview of it myself.

You see, I was a homeschool student who really did not enjoy science until my mom finally found a science curriculum that just worked well for me.

Once I started using that, science came alive and I still really enjoy studying the subject today.

One of the biggest differences between the science curriculum I dreaded using and the one that changed everything was the way in which it was taught.

One was a dry and boring textbook while the other was written as though the teacher was standing in the same room as me.

You could sense the excitement of the teacher in his writing and it made all the difference.

Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science reminds me a lot of the curriculum I used as a high schooler many years ago.
