Free First Day of Homeschool Printable Signs

The first day of school is looking different for a lot of families this year but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun and full of many familiar traditions.
One of those traditions is having a first day of school picture taken.
There are many things that homeschooling is not, but there certainly is always room for fun and these signs are a way to include that.
Below are two versions of a first day of school printable sign that you can download and use for free for your own children.

First up is the red and blue version.
Both printables are US letter size but can also be printed on A4.
There’s a line below the text where you can write in what grade your child is doing this year.

Taking pictures of your kids on their first day back to school is a fun way of capturing a special moment in time.
It is also fun (and bittersweet) to compare pictures over the years.
Homeschooling is not school at home. It is so much more than that.
However, one of my favorite parts of homeschooling is that you have the freedom and choice to make it look the way that works for your family.
If you’re new to homeschooling and want to continue some of the traditions you did when your children attended traditional school…go for it!
It is 100% okay to do that and have fun with it.
Just like some moms throw Pinterest-worthy parties and others keep things super low key, homeschooling is the same.
We all do things differently and one is no better than the other.
Other First Day of Homeschool Traditions
Just for fun, here are a few other first day of homeschool traditions and activities you might like to do with your kids:
#1 A Themed Breakfast
This is something that you can make really fun for your children.
I like to do read aloud and enrichment studies while my children have their breakfast, so I can see us doing something really fun if I decided to go with this tradition.
#2 An Interview
How sweet would it be to have a record of your child’s likes, dislikes, and dreams at the start of every year?
Do a short interview with your child and keep it as a record to look back on.
I know my kids love it when I stop to ask them questions about their interests.

#3 Make Family Homeschool Goals
Now is the perfect time to sit down together as a family and decide what areas of interest you want to focus on in your homeschool.
Perhaps there’s a topic that you’re all interested in and would like to study as a family?
Or, you might like to take this time to plan field trips for the year.
#4 Do a Homeschool Supply Scavenger Hunt
At the beginning of each school year you likely will stock up on new homeschool supplies.
Why not make a fun game of it and hide them around the house?
Create a scavenger hunt list and give it to your children to then go and find the different items.
What You Should Know…
Ultimately, whether you choose to do these fun first day of homeschool activities or decide not to do anything but get stuck into school, your children are loved and cared for.
The best gift you can give to your children as a homeschool mom is just being there for them with a joyful heart and a willingness to learn alongside them.
