It can be time-consuming but it is time well spent all the same.

Make use of your community. Homeschool parents can be a wealth of knowledge. If you know of a homeschooling parent who has kids your age or older, go and see if they have any suggestions.

Most of the time fellow homeschool parents are more than willing to share and tips or tricks that they have.

Outsource Subjects

Back when I was being homeschooled the internet was pretty new. We didn’t have online tutors or curriculums.

So, when it came to Algebra and other high school math subjects, my mom hired a tutor.

This took the burden off her shoulders and also made sure to meet my learning needs.

There is no rule saying that homeschoolers have to do everything at home. It is 100% okay to outsource certain subjects when you need to.

I was tutored by a former teacher that attended our church. You may also find someone local or you may want to find an online tutor.

Either way, there are options that are there for you to make use of.

Don’t Put Your Doubts Onto Your Kids

It is so easy to let our own doubts and inhibitions become a thing for our kids as well. The reality is, just because you struggled with something doesn’t mean that your child will also.

Remember that homeschooling gives so many more great tools and flexibility than a traditional school.

If your child isn’t getting the help that they need from the teacher or teaching method that they have, then you can change things!

You can find a way to help them learn what they need to.

I’m so glad that my mom didn’t use her struggle with math as an excuse for letting me settle for second best.

Instead, so found a way to support my learning that also set me up for success.
