5 Christmas-Themed Math Games Your Kids Will Love

The holiday season is such a special time of year, but let’s be honest — homeschooling can get a little tricky when routines get disrupted. One of my favorite ways to keep learning fun (and stress-free) is to add in holiday-themed activities.
Math doesn’t have to mean worksheets all December long. With a few simple supplies — and the free printables I’ve put together for you — you can bring some holiday cheer into your homeschool while still practicing important skills.

#1 Jolly Jumps and Slides
This game is quick to set up and perfect for little learners. Print the candy cane game board, grab a die, a game counter each, and you’re ready to go.
How to play: Roll the die and move that many spaces on the board. If you land on a ladder, climb. If you land on a slide, slide down. First one to reach the finish line wins!
Math skills: Counting, number recognition.
#2 Ornament Number Match
Numbers feel more exciting when they’re on Christmas ornaments.
How to play: Print the ornament set and math problem strips. Kids solve the problems and match them to the correct ornament.
Math skills: Addition and number sense.
#3 Christmas Tree Skip-Counting
Multiplication practice that feels like decorating a tree!
How to play: Print the tree template and ornaments. Have your child place the ornaments in skip-counting order (multiples of 2, 5, or 10).
Math skills: Multiplication, sequencing, number patterns.
#4 Gingerbread Fraction Match
Nothing says Christmas quite like gingerbread!
How to play: Print the gingerbread set with fractions on each cookie. Kids match the gumdrops to the equivalent gingerbread man cookie. (showing equivalent fractions, like 1/2 = 2/4).
Math skills: Fractions, equivalency.
#5 Gift Addition
This is a fun one that definitely touches on some life skills.
How to play: Print the holiday shopping sheet, the addition sheet, and grab a couple of dice. Roll one die and find the matching number on the gift sheet. Record the ticketed price on the addition sheet. Repeat that step again.
Next, roll the two dice together and follow the same steps as before. Roll both dice one more time and record that price. Once the child has four prices ready to go, have them add them all together to find the final cost.
Math skills: Money, addition, and problem-solving.
