Looking for a kindergarten math curriculum can feel utterly overwhelming. There are so many options out there, and it can feel a real challenge to sift through all of them.
Today I’m going to share with you a unique math and science curriculum that combines both physical resources with online learning.
This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

What Is SPORK Butterfly Math & Science K-2?
Over my years of homeschooling to date I have used several different kindergarten math curriculums.
One thing that I’ve always known I’d eventually want to utilize is online learning.
While screentime may not be something every family wants to use in their homeschool, it would be unwise not to acknowledge some of the great benefits that online learning can have.
With that in mind, let’s discuss the kindergarten math curriculum now available from SPORK Education.
SPORK Education uses a combination of digital and physical resources in their SPORK Butterfly Math & Science curriculum.
Something that makes it very unique is their method of combining both math and science together into one comprehensive curriculum.
What You’ll Get

If you choose to use this curriculum you’ll get over 160 lessons for 18 months, giving you the ability to move through them at your child’s pace instead of a strict schedule.
My review of the kindergarten level specifically, but they offer levels K-2.
When making your purchase, you have several options.
You will get access to the digital curriculum which does provide everything you need to teach the entire level.
However, you also have the option of purchasing the manipulatives kit and a workbook.
As someone who lives outside of the United States, I’m thankful that we are able to still use the course without having to pay any shipping fees for physical products.
You can take a look at what is included in the manipulatives kit on their website and piece together what you can.
However, if having manipulatives and a physical workbook is important to you then you definitely have that option.

How It Works

SPORK Education provides a unique combination of math and science in their kindergarten math curriculum.
The curriculum is made up of several units which are broken down into daily lessons.
Each lesson has detailed lesson plans for the parent to use to teach their child. From there, you can print the documents needed for each lesson if you haven’t purchased a workbook.

Then, there is a digital pathway that the child will use to practice the concepts that they have been taught in the lessons.
This digital pathway is full of interactive games, making it really fun for the student. My daughter has come to me several times outside of our schooling hours to ask if she can please play the games again.
At the end of each unit, there is a test for the child to complete.
Our Experience

As a homeschool mom with several years of experience now, I am a big advocate for encouraging new homeschool parents to simply choose a curriculum that will hold their hand and help them to get started.
You can, of course, change paths later on, but to begin with, you need to have a tool that makes teaching achievable and takes away the overwhelm.
That’s one of the things I really like about this math curriculum.
The done-for-you lesson plans make getting started really simple. There’s no guesswork here. They literally hold your hand through all of it.
Another thing that I truly appreciate is that it’s built so that you’re working together with your child. This isn’t something that you set up for them to do entirely independently. That’s something that I personally feel is really important, especially for this age.
You need to be able to evaluate exactly how your child is doing with the concepts that they’re being taught.

I’m a busy mom. I do not have time to spend trying to figure out how certain curriculum and platforms work. This curriculum is intuitive and simple to navigate. I also found the online platform to be fast and without glitches.
We’ve used online programs before which have been laggy and glitchy. This has led to frustration for both myself and my kids.
I’m happy to report that this was NOT our experience using this kindergarten math program.
Another thing that I always appreciate from any curriculum I use is some kind of suggested schedule. I mean, I definitely take the liberties I need to adapt it to our life, but I still like to not have to do the work of figuring out how many lessons we need to do in order to complete everything within a certain timeframe.
This kindergarten math curriculum gives a clear schedule for you to follow.
Finally, a big tick item for me is the ability to track progress. At a glance, I’m able to see where we’re up to in the curriculum and how my child is doing.

Who Is This Right For?

- Done for You – This curriculum is perfect for anyone looking for a resource that is all set up and ready to go for you. If you are busy and need a curriculum that has done all of the prep work for you, then this fits the bill.
- Not Confident to Teach Math – We ALL have subjects that we’re not confident in teaching. For many, math fits that description. If that’s you, then this curriculum is well worth looking into. With carefully curated lessons, you can rest easy knowing that your child is getting the information they need.
- Science Lovers – If you love science and would really appreciate it being incorporated into your homeschool subjects as much as possible, then this curriculum is a slam dunk.
Final Thoughts
This is a really fun introduction to math for kindergarteners. Honestly, my current kindergartener can be a bit picky about which resources she likes and does not like.
This curriculum is firmly in her like camp.
I recommend this to all homeschoolers, but specifically those of you looking for a comprehensive math curriculum that has the added benefit of covering the subject of science while you’re at it.
It is perfect for the homeschool mom who lacks confidence in teaching math and needs scripted lessons that will walk you right through it all.
Check out SPORK Education today and see if this is the right fit for your family.
